Bench it

Municipality of Athens has a great idea! It gives the opportunity to everbody to choose the design of the new benches in the city of Athens.

There are two competitions:

The first is the Athens Bench Mark industrial design contest. The public will vote for the best 100 benches and then a committee will choose the best three. One of them will be the winner and decorate the new benches throughout Athens. Everybody can participate, provided that they submit their ideas until 6th April. At the same time we can rate the submission on a scale of 1 to 10 until April 14th.

The second is the visual contest Future Bench. Future Bench is a parallel competition to Athens Bench Mark. The competition is different in that it allows artists and designers free range of their artistic expression without technical guidelines to limit them. Once again, the public will vote which fifty designs/creative proposals they like best. The proposals with the highest scores win the Audience Award for most voted design. The fifty proposals will then be placed for an exhibition show titled “Future Bench”. Additionally, the evaluating committee will select the top three proposals and accordingly award the winners prizes by rank of choice. The competition ends April 26th and the public can rate until April 29th.

Finally, the rest of us with no designing abilities can be volunteers to this act. City technicians will organize and guide teams to refurbish old benches into new.

Grunge Garden

Think 90s grunge and then add some flowers! Grunge was introduced at the mid-80s as an anti-style. It's like "who gives a damn what I'm wearing"-look. Now it is coming back with a refreshing air.

Keep: the leather jacket, plaid shorts, ripped jeans, flannel shirts, leather boots and generally a decadence style.

Add: floral prints, bright colors in contrast with black and a more girly look.

My love for vintage items is widely known. So, i would like to present you a recent flea market discovery! It is a pair of really nice earings. They dated back to 1960's and they have beautiful purple colour. They attracted my attention from the first minute and especially their kitch style.

Easter vacations

Packing is always a huge problem for me! It is almost impossible to go for a trip having only one small luggage or taking only the essentials. I should have with me all my clothes/ accessories/ shoes that I love at the current time, so i could not feel like having limited choices to get dressed! Everytime, I fill a huge luggage with all my clothes and then I try to remove some which I suppose that I won't need. This is what i was trying to do an hour ago, so my sister was watching my effort and dedicated me a video. Enjoy!

Color explosion

I just saw the new ad of swatch watches on TV and I am excited about the new colorful line. It is called color code and from my little "research" i find the shiny line the best one. I want them all and wear it all together....at the same time!!!haha Now i am thinking which color to pick. But their low price make me think that may be I’ll buy more than one!

The turban

What about wearing a turban? Does that remind you your grandma?

After a long thought and a friend of mine posing in front of my camera wearing one in a store, i realised that this may be a really chic piece in our closet. It is for sure the best friend in a bad hair day. But i think that I am gonna wear it even in a good day, or maybe at the beach! This is the perfect way to protect my hair from the sun. For those that find really daring this idea, there are hairbands that look like turbans, but they do not cover the whole head.

Yellow shoes

Yellow shoes! A trend that has started last year and the past days has stuck in my mind! I want a pair of yellow shoes! I think it is a good alternative to the nude colours, which dominate sandals this summer! Before a few years red shoes where introduced as the ultimate colour for our shoes. I was a huuuge fan and I remain a fan. But yellow seems that may replace my obsession. I hope not introducing a new one!!!

I found photos of Olivia Palermo who gives a fresh blow to a rather boring outfit with dull colours, only by pairing brigh yellow high hills shoes!

So, i think this is the perfect pair of shoes to starτ the spring. It is not as daring as you think! Just they will make stand out in a good way. I still search for the perfect pair!
